Foundations Entertainment University More classroom hours, topics and fun October 16-18, 2003, Atlanta, GA

In late 2002, Randy White, our CEO, Frank Price, founder of Birthday University, and Frank 'the Crank' Seninsky saw a need to offer entrepreneurs planning to open a location-based entertainment center a comprehensive educational program on all the basics of developing, starting up and operating the business. Randy had previously developed the Newcomers & Rookies seminar program for IALEI at Fun Expo and ran it for the past two years (he is no longer participating in it). He and the two Franks felt that seminar was too limited in time (only 1.5 days), coverage and depth to meet the needs of start-up entrepreneurs. Their research also found that entrepreneurs wanted the opportunity to have one-on-ones with instructors.

So to meet this need, they founded the Foundations Entertainment University. The first University was held April 29-May 1 in Chicago and was a big hit. Not only was the University three days long and extremely comprehensive in topics, but attendees holed up with all six presenters at a conference center. They dined together and there were many interesting group and private discussions that went into the wee hours of the night.

Participants said the following about the first Foundations:

"Program was very well titled. I feel like I've really received a great foundation and I'm energized and motivated to proceed!"

"WOW!!! Such talent under one roof giving presentations; tips about the industry. Had I gone into business without this seminar, I would have been out of business in six months."

The next Foundations Entertainment Institute is scheduled for October 16-18, 2003, at the Marriott's Stone Mountain Inn at Stone Mountain Park, just outside Atlanta. There will be many improvements based upon input from May attendees. Seminar classroom time is being expanded to 24 hours. Covered topics will be expanded, and many will be covered in greater depth. On Wednesday night, a special behind the scenes tour has been arranged for attendees at Stone Mountain's entertainment attractions, including The Great Barn, with its totally immersive interactive game experience. Stone Mountain Park is operated by one of the country's leading attraction entertainment developers and operators, the Herschend Family Entertainment Corp. Learn more about Stone Mountain Park at

In addition to Randy and the two Franks, October's instructors will include Peter Olesen, Jerry Merola and Alan Fluke.
