Is your website & social media AI scraper-friendly?

As consumer behavior shifts and digital discovery has accelerated into an AI-driven landscape, family entertainment centers (FECs) and other location-based entertainment venues (LBEs) can no longer rely solely on traditional search engines or social media to attract visitors.

  • More than half of consumers (53%) used AI to make a purchase decision in late 2025, up from 9% one-year prior.
  • As of January 2026, over 50% of consumers use AI assistants to discover local events, attractions, and businesses and to plan trips.
  • Over 60% of Gen Z and Millennials are exclusively using AI to find local places to visit.
  • 78% of AI users discovered new destinations or attractions that they would not have found otherwise.

Younger generations and highly educated people, who are the majority of visitors to FECs and LBEs, are the most frequent AI users.

Making an LBE's website easy for AI tools to read is becoming as important as making it friendly for human visitors. Today, people increasingly use AI assistants - such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, or voice-based tools - to plan weekend getaways, find LBE options, and find local events. These tools gather information from publicly available websites, social media, review sites, and other online sources, then summarize and present it to users. AI users are increasingly letting AI plan their trips. That means your website must be clear, structured, and “AI-scraper friendly” to ensure your FEC or LBE is found and is accurately represented.

When your website is optimized for AI scraping, you increase your chances of being recommended when someone asks, “What are fun family activities near me?” or “What entertainment places within 10 miles of me have duckpin bowling and great pizza?” If your information is difficult for AI tools to read or missing altogether, your business may not appear in these suggestions - even if you're the perfect match.

Having an AI scraper-friendly website is a cost-effective way to boost visibility without a large marketing budget.

At a minimum, ensure the following details are complete and consistent across your website:

  • Business name, physical address, phone number, and email, written in plain text on the page and in the footer.
  • Clear description of what you offer (e.g., go-karts, bowling, arcade, VR, food and beverage menus, birthday parties, group events, school field trips, etc.). Use everyday phrases visitors actually use when searching, such as “family-friendly,” “duckpin bowling,” or “great pizza.”
  • Opening days, hours, and seasonal dates are updated promptly when they change.
  • Pricing basics, or at least typical ranges and what's included.
  • Simple directions, parking info, pet policy, and accessibility information.

Also, make sure information is consistent across your website, Google Business Profile, and social media, as this helps AI validate information. If your information is ambiguous and inconsistent across your website and social media, AI systems won't ask follow-up questions. They will simply choose another option.

AI tools understand your site better when it is technically clean and structured:

  • Use descriptive page titles and headings such as “attractions” and “menu” instead of vague labels like “Our Services.”
  • Make sure the site loads quickly, works well on mobile, and avoids burying key information solely in images or PDFs, since text in images is more difficult for scrapers to interpret.
  • Schema markup is behind-the-scenes code that labels your content so that AI and search engines can immediately understand it. Add schema markup for LocalBusiness and events so AI can clearly read your address, hours, and event dates.
  • Include an FAQ page with direct, conversational answers to common questions about pets, weather policies, group bookings, food options, accessibility, and safety, which AI assistants can easily reuse.
  • If you offer online booking, clearly label your “Book Now” or “Buy Tickets” buttons and ensure confirmation details (times, locations, what to bring) are also presented in readable text.

The goal is to make your website easy for AI scrapers to read so they can accurately surface and recommend your LBE in search results, chatbots, and trip-planning tools. By making your website AI-scraper friendly, you ensure your business stands out in the rapidly evolving landscape of digital discovery - bringing more visitors, stronger engagement, and greater business success.
