Emergency Preparedness

Every entertainment facility should have an emergency disaster plan. Whether it is an injury, a natural disaster, a crime, an infrastructure breakdown, or terrorism, every facility needs a set of predetermined policies and procedures, as well as a well-training staff, on how to respond.

There are several excellent resources for facilities setting up or updating their emergency disaster plans:

1. "Guidelines for Developing a Crisis Management Plan," International Association for the Leisure & Entertainment Industry (IALEI). $50 for IALEI members and $100 for non-members. Order by calling 888.464-6498 or e-mailing Linbrandl@aol.com

2. "Emergency Disaster, Guidelines & Procedures, 2nd Edition, for Sports, Leisure and Entertainment Industries" by William Avery. Available at http://www.expertsafety.com/disasterguide.htm
