The Sana'a Trade Center, in Sana'a, Yemen is planning a three-story addition that will feature the country's first indoor family entertainment center.
The White Hutchinson Leisure & Learning Group of Kansas City, Missouri, USA recently completed the feasibility study and schematic plans for the project. Randy White, the company's CEO, says, "It was a exciting challenge to blend state-of-the-art family entertainment center concepts and designs with the historic architect of this United Nations designated World Heritage City and the country's unique Muslim culture, and to integrate it all with the existing Sana'a Trade Center."
The Sana'a Trade Center is Sana'a's only mixed-use project, consisting of the city's largest, enclosed two-story, retail mall, office towers and apartment towers. The three-story addition will contain 5,200 square meters plus a tensile fabric covered plaza which will connect the addition with the retail mall. The first two levels will contain the family entertainment center. There will be a family area with rides, games, maze, cafe and party rooms and a special children's area for parents with children 8 years and younger. The children's area will include the Middle East's first outdoor adventure play garden with a dinosaur dig, pretend fishing and a 10 meter tall climbing tower. The 2nd level of the FEC will connect to the 2nd level of the retail mall via a skywalk above the plaza. The 3rd level of the addition will include a celebration and wedding hall, a upscale restaurant and the country's first bowling lanes.
The project is scheduled for completion in 2003 at a cost of US$ 6.0 million, not including parking. A multi-level parking structure is planned to provide parking for both the retail mall and the addition.
