Young adults are switching from nightlife to coffee raves & soft clubbing

There is a growing trend of sober morning or daytime dance parties, often called “coffee raves,” expanding in the U.S., marketed to the sober‑curious and wellness crowds. They were popularized by pioneers like Daybreaker (www.daybreaker.com/ ) , which began early‑morning weekday dance parties in 2013 and is staging around 100 events this year with yoga, live performers, and free coffee or matcha at different locations.

These daytime dance parties are redefining nightlife for the sober-curious crowd, offering high-energy parties without the hangover. Gen Z is recognized as the primary drivers and enthusiastic adopters of the trend. Their preferences for wellness, inclusivity, mental health, and meaningful connection align directly with the ethos of daytime dance parties, which feature high-energy, music-driven social events centered on coffee rather than alcohol.

Tickets are typically under $60 and often include alcohol-free drinks.

Coffee clubbing events are up 478% compared to last year, according to Eventbrite.

Big names in “soft clubbing,” as Eventbrite calls it, include Be You Disco (www.beyoudisco.com/ ) , House of Coffee Music Festival (www.houseofcoffeemusicfestival.com/ ) , and Daybreaker (www.daybreaker.com/ ) .

“This movement isn't about giving something up [nightlife], it's about choosing more,” says Roseli Ilano, Eventbrite's Head of Community & Trends Expert. “More presence, more intention, more joy. Gen Z is redefining what it means to go out, and they're turning to experiences that nourish the body and soul as much as they entertain.”

Eventbrite suggests that soft clubbing will continue expanding throughout 2025, with interest spreading beyond major metropolitan areas. As Gen Z continues to redefine cultural norms around health, community, and celebration, soft clubbing offers a new way to party as “nightlife” has turned into “daylife”.
