Are You Old School?
This is a reprint from the Birthday University (www.birthdayuniversity.com/ ) enewsletter. BU may still have a few scholarships available for their April 9-10 program in Chicago. Contact Frank Price if you are interested. <fprice21@aol.com>
Old School - adj./adv. old-fashioned, of the old style, etc. Usually a term of respect for the past greats of whatever discipline you're talking about (e.g., Do it old school like Elvis)
Are you operating your business in modern times or like it is the 70s, 80s, 90s or even the last decade? Your established ways of doing business may be holding you back. You may be out of touch with what can move your business forward now. It is time to let the "old school" business practices go and embrace progress.
Today it's apps and accessibility, cooperation and alliances, nanosecond responsiveness, social and family gatherings and value. Being a progressive business creates more opportunities for growth and sets your business apart from all the others competing in a pool with all the others operating in outdated formats. Let go of the old and embrace the new, even though it may be uncomfortable. You might like the results.
Radio Shack finally figured it out. Did you see their super bowl commercial - "The 80's called ... they want their store back." Respect and learn from the old - then recreate old ideas with a new way of doing it. Evolve ... Change ... Get relevant for today's consumer.
