Announcing LOBEX

You've heard of the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500. Now LOBEX is joining the ranks of stock indexes.

Often the location-based entertainment industry doesn't get the respect it deserves, despite its size. Location-based entertainment (LBE) venues include amusement parks, water parks, FECs, movie theatres and eatertainment. Based on U.S. Census Bureau and the National Association of Theatre Owners data, American LBE's generated in excess of 20 billion dollars in sales in 2001, more than all forms of spectator sports.

To increase awareness of LBE's and to help track their fortunes, the White Hutchinson Leisure & Learning Group has developed an index of publicly traded LBE stocks called LOBEX (LOcation-Based Entertainment indeX). The index consists of eight companies that derive all or a substantial portion of their reviews from the operation of amusement and water parks, eatertainment facilities and cinemas.
