National Playground Safety Week, April 21-25, 2007

During the week of April 21-25, 2007, is an excellent time for directors and staff to assess the safety of their outdoor environment. According to the National Program for Playground Safety, efforts should be concentrated on supervision, age-appropriate equipment, adequate fall surfacing under elevated equipment and having all equipment in good repair. On-line courses, video training materials and reference books are available from the National Program for Playground Safety at www.playgroundsafety.org (www.playgroundsafety.org/ ) . Also the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons has a Guide to Playground Safety that can be downloaded at
