Results from our 2025 agritourism participation survey

During the past three years, our company has conducted a nationwide survey on agritourism household participation (one or more household members participated). We surveyed over 1,000 adults in the U.S. The surveys were conducted in mid-November, so they might miss some late-year visits to farm markets and a few late-year events, such as U-cut Christmas trees. We do it then as we believe people will report what they attended more accurately than waiting until January.

This year's results are in. Agritourism is incredibly popular. 89% of households (one or more members from the household) participated in at least one agritourism event or activity this year.

As might be expected, fall festivals (pumpkin patch/corn mazes) are the most popular, with nearly six in ten households attending (59%). Haunted attractions or haunted hayrides rate second in participation at 44%.

Animals and hayrides are very popular at festivals and other events. 44% of households had someone interact with animals in 2025, and 36% of households had one or more members go on a hayride.

Alcoholic drinks - beer, alcoholic cider, and wine - appear to now be widely available at agritourism events. 45% of households had someone drink some when attending.
