It is very simply a people concept

Carl, one of our clients, who is working on securing financing for a bowling-based entertainment center in Berlin, Germany, recently wrote a blog that was very insightful. It cuts straight to what his planned entertainment will be and what any FEC-type project should be. He's what he wrote:

"No matter the country or the culture there are some basic underlying principles that everyone adheres to; we all seek out ways to connect with others to reinforce and strengthen our emotional bonds with those we care about. It is what makes us human. FUNomenal [Carl's planned center] is not only an urban entertainment center, but a center that promotes social interaction and the development of relationships where guests have the possibility to actively create their own memories. We intend for our venue to give you control over how you shape your experiences and then provide you with the opportunity to relive those moments over and over with friends, family or colleagues in a welcoming atmosphere all in a central location. As humans, our happiest and most fulfilling moments are those we have and remember with others. It is what makes us who we are."

Thanks Carl. You have done a great job of expressing what the essence of any center should be - it's all about strengthening our social relationships with family or friends and creating memories. The entertainment and the food and beverage are only there to facilitate that. They are not the end-all. The end-all is the socialization, or as Carl also said, "It's very simply a people concept."
