New California Law May Force Vendors to Create More Green Early Childhood Furniture

California air regulators approved restrictions on emissions of formaldehyde in wood products. The rule will require manufacturers to reduce the toxic chemical in manufactured wood by more than half. The standard will be phased in starting in 2009 and will be the most stringent in the world when it is fully implemented in 2012. The regulation will cut by nearly 60% the amount of formaldehyde emissions that seeps into the air from the resin or glue most commonly used to bond plywood, particle board and medium density fiberboard. Do you ask your vendor to provide information regarding how the early childhood classroom furniture you buy is finished? You should.
