Spartanburg First Steps Program Invests in Improving Outdoor Environments

The South Carolina county of Spartanburg is taking crucial "first steps" with a comprehensive plan to improve its outdoor play environments. White Hutchinson's Vicki Stoecklin will address a conference there and work on-site with educators.

White Hutchinson Leisure & Learning Group is pleased to be working with the First Steps program of Spartanburg, South Carolina, to put together a comprehensive improvement plan for outdoor play environments in Spartanburg County.

Vicki Stoecklin, our Education and Child Development Director, is one of the featured speakers at the Early Education Learning Conference in Spartanburg set for March 23-24, 2007. She will conduct a daylong session for directors on creating high-quality outdoor spaces and will work with teachers the following day on outdoor activity choices.

In addition, Vicki will provide on-site technical assistance with 14 directors of various early childhood programs over a week's time to get teachers and staff involved in evaluating and improving their outdoor space. It is truly exciting to be part of First Steps countywide plans to support directors in creating more naturalized and developmentally appropriate outdoor environments.
