Campus Child Development Center Feasibility Study

Pikes Peak Community College, Centennial Campus Child Development Center, Colorado Springs, CO

The Centennial Campus currently operates a campus laboratory, child development center for 53 children. Since the center does not currently meet the demand from students and college staff and faculty, the College Foundation retained White Hutchinson to:

  1. project current and future demand for child care from students, staff and faculty,
  2. evaluate the existing center,
  3. recommend a development program, including quality of care standards,
  4. examine development options,
  5. project development costs, and 6. examine the cost of care and needed subsidies to make it affordable.

After completion of the study, the Child Care Task Force and College Foundation reviewed and concurred with the study's recommendations and is currently doing the necessary ground work to issue bonds underwritten by a campus wide student fee to finance the development of the center.
