Number of children's role-play edutainment centers grows
The number of children’s role-play edutainment centers continues to grow. They are 60,000+-square-feet child-sized replicas of a real city where children can learn about money and work by experiencing a large number of professions. We have been reporting on the concept since the first one, La Ciudad de los Niños, opened outside of Mexico City in 1999. Then came Wannado in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and three KidZanias throughout the world, with the most recent KidZania opening in Lisbon, Portugal. Another KidZania is scheduled to open later this year at Dubai Mall in Dubai, U.A.E.
Three of the newest variations are the recently opened 100,000-square-foot Micropolix in Madrid Spain, the 75,000-square-foot Eday Town in Zhongsheng World Mall in Minhang District, China, and the 81,000-square-foot BabyBoss in Taipei, Taiwan.
