ROCK CLIMBING GROWS IN POPULARITY

Rock climbing on artificial walls is growing in popularity. From 1998 to 2001, participation grew by 57%. However, don't be fooled into thinking that this statistic indicates rock-climbing walls are the next big thing for entertainment venues. In 2001, only 7.4 million people, or 2.5% of the American population climbed an artificial rock wall during the year. Many of those walls are located in fitness and sports facilities and retail stores, not entertainment venues. Rock climbing has a place in some LBEs, but not all.
